We require the services of a part-time attorney for occasional work, who will be responsible for providing legal support and counsel to our group of companies under Achieve Test Prep and We Are Working. Consideration will be given to applicants who meet and exceed the below minimum requirements regardless of the state in which you are licensed to practice.
Activities will include but not be limited to, development of litigation strategy, drafting pleadings, and management of outside counsel resources.
Roles & Responsibilities
Conflict resolution with vendors and customers
Miscellaneous duties such as resolving small claims filed by students against the company, including arbitration and litigation
Independently negotiate, draft, and/or revise all manner of corporate and commercial agreements (e.g., vendor, system, or customer) and other legal documents.
Help manage the relation with and supervise the work done by outside counsel where required and make strategic decisions regarding the conduct of legal proceedings (e.g., litigation, regulatory, or alternative dispute resolution).
Required skills & experience
5+ years of legal experience in a corporate environment or proven comparable law firm experience.
Proven background in commercial transactions, contract law, and corporate law
Solutions-oriented strategic thinker with sound judgment and the ability to provide practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risks
Current license to practice law.
This role requires advanced critical thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret laws, regulations, and case law to identify and mitigate legal risk while helping to achieve business objectives.
This role requires advanced communication skills (oral and writing) with management and front-line employees as well as customers, consumers, and representatives of other businesses.
