JAMAICA FIELD OFFICER Farmer-to-Farmer Program
 

Partners of the Americas (Partners), a private voluntary organization engaged in development in the Western Hemisphere seeks a Jamaica Field Officer for its USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer Program in Jamaica. The objective of the Farmer-to-Farmer Program is to improve economic opportunities in rural areas of Latin America and the Caribbean by food production and distribution and promoting farm marketing operations. Projects in specific countries focus on select agricultural commodity chains and US volunteers provide specific  technical assistance to small medium producers, agro-processors and others working at all levels of these chains

 Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Country Director. the Field Officer will perform a range Of in support Of program activities. The Field  Officer will be responsible for the following:

Identifying and working with organizations that volunteers and the country Specific strategy

Developing clearly defined ard detailed volunteer scopes of work; that and volunteer assignments correspond to the plan and meet and Partners program stardards:

Accompanying  volunteers, when travel resumes , while on assignment;

Facilitating virtual volunteer assignments— translating for volunteers & training materials:

providing pre-assignment assistance to host organizations participating in the program. and working dosely with tuistorganizations whle volunteers are in-country;

Montoring and evaluating the quality and impact of volunteer assignments projects:

Contributing innovative ways to assist farmers through remote technical assistance:

•Representing the Farmer-to-Farmer program and coordinating with USAID and other stakeholders as indicated by the Country Director:

Assisting with communications and outreach: and 
• Other rdated duties as specified by the Coutry Director 

 Minimum Job Requirements 

Must be a Jamaican citizen willing to live in Kingston when in-country travel resumes.

Excellent oral written communication skills in English 

A degree in agriculture. rural development. economics. or other relevant subject.

One to three years professional experience in agriculture to remain overnight on assignments in the field. (For up to 90% of the time.)

Valid general driver's license for at least three years above 2800 cc

Ability to understand terrns used agricuture. rural adaptation, and climate resilience: and

Ability to carry and/or operate pertaining to agriculture
