Advance Program
The Advance Program strengthens the capacity of select two- and three-year technical tertiary institutions, providing
market-relevant, quality training to disadvantaged youth in Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.
Advance works to strengthen degree programs in partnership selected academic institutions in five areas: curriculum design and pedagogy, teacher professional development, career services, admissions and recruitment, and local scholarships.
Through this work, the Program seeks to enhance academic and employment opportunities for disadvantaged youth
in each country, Advance is implemented by FHI 360, with support from USAID. In Jamaica, Advance focuses on three
industries: agribusiness, health and wellness tourism and creative industries. These industries were selected based on
a labour market review. Advance also conducted a study of barriers to access and completion, to understand more about
the issues that affect youth participation in tertiary technical education, www.advanceprogram.org
